John Skeete is a Boston based artist best known for his emotional content and delivery. Greatly influenced by the speed of Canon and Busta Rhymez, lyricism of Street Hymns and Drake and creativity of rappers KB and Lil Wayne. Although he is relatively new to the hip hop music scene, John has been writing poems and lyrics since 2011. At an early age John was exposed to the world of music, where he learned basic piano, and played clarinet and tenor saxophone in his school band. Throughout his life John knew that music was going to play an important part in his life he just wasn’t quite sure how it would manifest itself. In 2015 as John was amid his senior year at Boston Latin Academy, he began to further explore his musical abilities with the help of his friends Donte and Gregory Weekes. Together they worked on and created a song that John used to earn a spot to perform at his school’s Annual Spirit Day. After receiving a positive response from this performance John continued to work on his craft. In 2016 John began to take performing seriously always listening and implementing constructive critiques and observances. 2017 has been a year of stepping out for John. He has amassed an impressive amount of shows in a short span of time centering on various Open Mics around Boston. John is currently working on his first official project. Stay tuned.
