Dominique Pelletier is a Montreal-based translator and part-time translation professor (Concordia University, University of Ottawa) with a background in audio recording technologies (Recording Arts Canada). She makes noise and chip music with various retro game and bootleg consoles (Game Boy, Colecovision, Famiclone) and circuit-bent toys. Theremin player and experimental musician, she adopts a transfeminist posture in favour of technological disobedience and against toxic virtuosity. In 2017, she co-curated the exhibition The Ghost Arcade at the Museo del juguete antiguo (MUJAM) in Mexico City and is the curator of Crafting Retrofutures, a series of exhibitions blending arts and crafts and Gameboy modding. In conjunction with Feminoise Latinamérica, she co-organised the two-day feminist chiptune and circuit sounds festival Femmi_comme_y_Amigas held in Mexico City in October of 2018 and participated in its sister iteration as part of Festival Metadatos in Chiapas in February of 2019. She is also co-founder of Fuck the sound check! against sexist violence in music and sound.
