Clear Eyes, Four Hands, Can't Lose: Solon Gordon & April Sun

  • The Lilypad 1353 Cambridge Street Cambridge, MA, 02139 (map)

$10 Suggested Donation @ the Door / Start 5:30pm / Doors 5:15pm / Seated Show

Mozart, Bach, and Stravinsky walk into the Lilypad for an evening of music that is both sublime and grounded, playful and profound, righteous and riotous; duality, complexity, and outright fun come with the four-hands-on-one-piano territory, and we invite you to join us for some sonata movements, chorale transcriptions, and a seasonal special--the RITE OF SPRING!

Solon Gordon

Solon Gordon enjoys a multifaceted career in music and technology. As a pianist, he specializes in music for strings and piano and finds joy in collaborating with young students, touring professionals, and everything in between. In recent months he has joined cellist Yo-Yo Ma in projects including his "Beginnings" recital and residency in Acadia National Park. As a software engineer, Solon has contributed to fields such as education technology and distributed databases. He has a special interest in making software teams more welcoming and diverse. Solon is ever grateful to his principal musical mentors: Monique Duphil, at Oberlin Conservatory, and Sandra Dennis, at the Community Music School of Springfield, Massachusetts.

April Sun

Boston-based pianist April Sun thrives as a performer, educator, and arts organizer who values curiosity, sincerity, and fun in her work/play. An avid chamber musician, she co-founded the Meadowlark Piano Trio, frequently collaborates with Phoenix and the Cape Cod Chamber Orchestra, and has performed at diverse venues around the world. Committed to helping communities forge meaningful relationships with music, April co-directs Music for Food, a nonprofit that uses music to generate funds for food pantries, teaches piano and chamber music at Brookline Music School, and serves as a collaborative pianist at New England Conservatory and Boston University. Her many wonderful mentors have included Daniel Shapiro, Anita Pontremoli, Paul Barnes, Kim Kashkashian, Peter Salaff, Hyeyung Yoon, Francesca Brittan, and Susan McClary. Away from the piano, she fills time with stories, bikes, strong beverages, and hikes.
