Cassie Kollman is a soprano vocalist who possesses an informed command of her art and excels in a wide range of musical genres, including baroque, classical, jazz, and pop.
A versatile singer-songwriter and enterprising producer, Cassie released her first album in 2021, an adventurous collection of groove-based, richly-textured, and imaginative compositions culled from personal experience and subtly hued by her Buddhist practice, titled Lady in Shoes. On the album, Cassie is heard unfiltered and on her own terms, leading her group of long standing collaborators through nuance and emotion. The collection features an eclectic mix of original compositions, as well as collaborations with guitarist, vocalist, and pianist Paul Conant, and guitarist Fran McConville Jr. Driven by intricate harmonies and soul-searching lyrics, Lady in Shoes presents arrangements that are both vocally and instrumentally ambitious. The result is a fun, quirky experience of pop music for both musicians and listeners alike.
Cassie practices meditation in her daily life and uses principles of mindfulness in her approach to vocal performance. Using body-awareness practice to connect with the body as an instrument, Cassie connects with the virtuosic nature of her voice, and joyfully imbues repertoire of many genres with a clear, warm tone and an agile, flexible technique.
Cassie is a student of Dr. Dana Lynne Varga and is currently pursuing her Masters of Music in Vocal Studies at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. A former grade-school music teacher and children’s theater director, Cassie is passionate about youth arts accessibility and community music.
