Kau Caldas - Interior

  • The Lilypad 1353 Cambridge Street Cambridge, MA, 02139 (map)

$15 Cover @ the Door / Start 8:30pm / Doors 8pm / Seated Show

Having contemporary jazz as a common basis, the compositions travel through the aesthetics of electronic music, MPB, rock'n roll, choral music and the Brazilian percussive universe, not being attached to previous labels and seeking to do something genuine that expresses his artistic identity.

"Interior", Kau Caldas's debut work, is poetically developed by narratives that present reflections about the individual's posture in relation to the world, the construction of individual active attitude towards collective harmony. These lyrics originated from small notes written by the author to himself, and gained further development for sharing with the public.

In addition to the songs contained in the EP and other compositions by the artist, his concert features reinterpretations of great songs that constitute the musical formation of Kau Caldas, in an experience that visits varied emotions of human existence through music. Making music is much more than being a good musician, it is amplifying positive discourses in the world and questioning what is not aligned with good through sound, this is the artist's mission in his work.

Kau Caldas is a Brazilian musician, instrumentalist, composer, music producer and educator.
Since his first ages, he had a great immersion with the musical universe by the influence of his family, and playing and listening to music are fundamental activities of his formation as a person since then.

Performing at the most diverse ensembles and playing with many different artists since his age 15, he dug deeper into the musical area during his formal studies. Studied Music Education at UNESP-SP and Drumset Performance at EMESP - Tom Jobim, having classes with great names of the Brazilian music. At that time, he also began to delve into the research, practice, performance and creation of improvised instrumental music, especially in traditional and modern jazz languages from different parts of the world, adding this layer to his musical universe.

Due to his eclectic musical background, he was able to work with a diverse range of artists, playing many different musical genres, such as Jazz, Rock, Reggae, RnB, Soul, Samba, etc...

With musical groups, he develops authorial works with two projects. 'A Timeline' explores the relationship between Afro-Brazilian claves, hip-hop and jazz. 'Analice`, with the merge of progressive rock with Brazilian music, narres about issues of metropolitan life.
