  • The Lilypad 1353 Cambridge Street Cambridge, MA, 02139 (map)

Jeff Robinson - Tenor Sax
Jeff Song - Cello, Bass
Jeff Allison - Drums

In 2005, JEF grew from collaborations between Song and Robinson (who had played in a Boston rock band in the 1980s). A lison (who had also worked with Robinson on several projects) was recruited based on his excellent first name (he's also a fantastic drummer). JEF  plays improvised music that dances in the space between jazz, rock, funk, classical, soul, and everything in between.

Jeff Song Cellist and bass guitarist Jeff Song has performed around the globe and has appeared on over a dozen recordings – his original music featured in theater, radio, television, and the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. Jeff Robinson St. Louis, Missouri native Jeff Robinson, saxophonist, composer, radio disc jockey, actor, director, playwright, and poet, Jeff started the band the Jeff Robinson Trio in 1995 as a bridge between music and theatre. The Jeff Robinson Trio has performed with some of the best poets in the United States of America, including Gil Scott Heron, Patricia Smith, Amiri Baraka, and Quincy Troupe, amongst thousands more. He is also a radio host at WCRB 99.5 FM Classical Radio Boston. Jeff is an alumnus of Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where he studied with saxophonists Bill Pierce and George Garzone. Jeff’s one-person show about jazz legend Charlie “Bird” Parker entitled “Live Bird” has appeared off-Broadway and in Charlie Parker’s hometown of Kansas City, Missouri. “I knew Charlie as a man, not simply a musical genius. Jeff portrays the Charlie I knew.” – Widow Doris Parker
