▲ The Croaks ▲

The Croaks are a whirlwind musical project headed up by Anna Reidister and Haley Wood. They’ve sheepishly called themselves “ragged post-hot folk rock,” which is a bit too abstract to tell you much about them, really.

Even the technically-more-accurate “Ren faire prog-punk” [my coinage—Kris] leaves out a lot of the pure and wild enjoyment of experiencing the band. When pressed further, they admit via their homepage that “Characterized by their epic narratives, slippery riffs and serpentine arrangements, The Croaks deliver Mischief and Merriement in the form of folk-rock to Boston, MA and beyond.”

▲ Daughter of the Vine ▲

Shimmering/pulsing psych-rock unit formed by Margaret Garrett, ex-Mr. Airplane Man! It’s her latest mystical musical endeavor, rounded out by Gregg Porter (The Concerns), Kurt Davis (ex- The Konks and Bullet La Volta), Abigail Taylor (The Concerns), and Chris Lohring.

Drawing on the reflective energy of their previous EP, these psychotropic sonic evangelists howl at their pack with the official release of their ‘MYSTIC VALLEY PKWY’ LP. This is an expanded version with 4 new previously unreleased recordings, done in the basement lair of Dead Moon Audio in Somerville, MA.

Part tremolo, part improvisation, with a sprinkle of Transcendentalism, see yourself through the Cosmic Eye! Enter geometric time and get yourself aligned!

▲ Happy The Clown ▲ [rare reunion show!]

Happy The Clown churn out hypnotic music that will thrill fans of heavy shoegaze and psychedelic-inflected post-punk. Comprised by bassist

Stephen “Happy” Muccini and guitarist Al “Alfa” Nahabedian, the Boston MA-area band began in 1988 following the breakup of Steve and Al’s punk band Jetset. Taking their name from a toy clown that Al won in a carnival, the new band found the boys treading into more repetitive and trance-inducing dark-rock waters.

Their impressive run of self-released albums includes Inner Sanctions (1993), Larvae (1995), Lincoln (1996), Afterlife (1996), Trim the Tree (1997), Sicka da Bullshit (1998), Cicada (1999), and Collections (2002).

▲ Winds of Alluria▲

Winds of Alluria is a purveyor of entrancing Nordic-influenced ritual dark fold sound. Their performances bridge the gap of ancestrally based music to create a unity in honoring culture and tradition — while preserving authentic connection to the language of music and the power of its ability to heal.

Their music features enchanting female vocals from shaman Alluria Khaluna Kam, together with Totem Faehy’s incredible throat singing and natural connection to animism. Heavy ritual, ancestral sounds, authentic shamanic vocals, throat and overtone singing, and kulning. Their unique abilities, along with the ancient sounds in modern alchemy creates a beautiful storytelling and performance.
