Chris Brokaw
is perhaps best known for his work with the bands Codeine and Come. He has released over two dozen solo albums of instrumental and vocal music since 2002, and played in The New Year, Pullman, Charnel Ground and the Lemonheads. He has scored nine films, most recently 'Crookedfinger' by Julia Halperin and Jason Cortlund, and written for dance and arts associations, most recently 'Lowlands' with Rimi/Imir in Stavangar, Norway. He has recorded and performed as an accompanist to Thurston Moore, Christina Rosenvinge, Rhys Chatham, Jennifer O'Connor, Steve Wynn and GG Allin. Currently he plays in Lupo Citta (with Sarah Black and Jenn Gori), the Martha's Vineyard Ferries (with Bob Weston and Elisha Wiesner) and the Chris Brokaw Rock Band (with Clint Conley and Luther Gray).
Beth Kaplan
founded the Boston band Salem 66 with guitarist Judy Grunwald and drummer Susan Merriam in 1981. Known for its haunting vocals and melodic bass lines, Salem 66 released five records on New York's Homestead label before breaking up in 1989. In 2025, Don Giovanni Records remastered the long out of print original recordings, releasing them for the first time on the streaming services, along with the vinyl compilation SALT. As Rolling Stone put it, "lost 1980s Indie rock pioneers Salem 66 are getting their moment in the sun." In May 2025, after decades purposely away from music, Beth joined Chris Brokaw for a few songs at his record release party. The two played a second show at the Dromedary Records festival in Catskill NY, over Labor Day weekend, where they were joined by Franklin Bruno. Beth is delighted to be back playing music with friends and writing new songs.
Franklin Bruno
Raised in Southern California’s Inland Empire and now based in Jackson Heights, Queens, Franklin Bruno has released 20 albums of original songs since the 1990s as a founding member of Nothing Painted Blue, a solo artist, and — currently — with his band The Human Hearts. As a collaborator and multi-instrumentalist, he has written, toured, and/or recorded with The Mountain Goats, Laura Cantrell, Tsunami, The Schramms, and others. Also a writer, he is the author of Elvis Costello’s Armed Forces (in Bloomsbury’s 33 1/3 series) and the poetry collection The Accordion Repertoire (Edge Books); his essays and criticism appear in The Nation, The Believer, and two volumes of Da Capo’s Best Music Writing.
