Stories told through song. A Nashville-style writers' round featuring indie-pop/folk Berklee songwriters: Brigham Cooper, Hadley Johnson, Mariam Kubursi, and Maya Salafia.


Hadley Johnson

Hadley Johnson is a 20-year-old indie pop/folk singer-songwriter from Cape Elizabeth, Maine. She grew up playing a medley of instruments and began writing songs at 13. Since then, she has performed at many venues throughout Portland and Boston. In January 2026, she released her debut EP, “The Idea of Me,” which tells stories of young love and loss, and includes themes of coming-of-age and moving on. Throughout her music, Hadley prioritizes sharing authentic stories through heartfelt lyrics and intimate arrangements. In doing so, she encourages listeners to explore their own vulnerability, and take comfort in knowing they aren't alone.

Maya Salafia

Maya Salafia is an indie-pop singer-songwriter based in Boston, Massachusetts. Known for her striking mix of raw emotion, killer hooks, and honest lyrics, Maya’s sound is the soundtrack for life’s messy moments. Maya Salafia released her debut album, Girl Like Her, on February 6th on all streaming platforms. Exploring topics surrounding falling in love and self-discovery, Girl Like Her brings a new level of vulnerability and truth to the indie-pop scene. Maya’s music has been featured in numerous music review blogs, radio shows, and websites. She has performed live at various clubs, coffeehouses, and festivals throughout New England.

Brigham Cooper

Brigham Cooper is a folk artist who blends surrealist lyricism with enchanting soundscapes and finger-style guitar. Hailing from Rutland, VT, their music tackles personal themes of identity and the human experience, with nods to their home and the people who have molded them into the musician they are today. Their song "To Die For," which speaks on the fluidity of gender and the balancing act of self-expression and personal safety, placed 3rd in Berklee's "Songs For Social Change" competition.

Mariam Kubursi

Mariam Kubursi is a singer-songwriter from Palo Alto, California, blending folk, Americana, and soft pop into a true and timeless sound. Mariam’s music connects listeners to the unique and inevitable experiences of life— nostalgia, love, heartbreak, and everything in between. Her wild honesty and addictive melodies paired with her light-hearted guitar riffs transport listeners to a vivid world where the sun is always shining, bitter can be sweet, and it’s always a good thing to grow.
