Poetry Readings with accompanying music

Words: Geoff Chasin

Music: Stella Owen and John Turner w Special Guests

Geoff Chasin is a local poet who believes that poetry is the perfect tool for exploring our inner and outer worlds. He is excited to work with Stella, John and others to explore different types of heros, and the different landscapes of the heroic journey.

Stella Owen is a classically trained pianist with a Master’s in Music from Northwestern University. Her love of all genres of music, and of ensemble playing, has compelled her to branch off in many directions: she plays keyboard with a number of orchestras including the Cape Cod Symphony, plays four hand piano in many venues, sings with the New World Chorale, plays jazz clarinet with Tuesday Night Special, and has been known to get down occasionally with some local rock and roll bands. Working with “Under the Influence” is yet one more experiment in her ever-blossoming musical career.

A veteran of the New England jazz scene, bassist John Turner has performed and recorded with just about everybody--specifically the Either/Orchestra, Charlie Kohlhase, Scott Hamilton, Roswell Rudd, Lee Konitz, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, members of Ornette Coleman’s band, the White Heat Swing Orchestra, and for over sixteen years was a member of Roomful of Blues, a five time Grammy nominated band.
