Kass Richards
Kass Richards grew up in rural Virginia and currently resides in the Boston area. Her new EP, Gospel, is out November 6, 2026. The four-song album was crafted over three sessions with Chris Brokaw (Come, Codeine, The Lemonheads) and David Minehan (The Neighborhoods, The Replacements); the latter also co-produced the album with Richards. Recorded in the aftermath of intense personal loss, Gospel is imbued with the shapeshifting emotions that come from grief, as well as a strong gratitude and reverence for things lost. The EP explores many sides of Richards' artistry, expanding her creative vision through inspiration from past collaborators. Gospel follows the 2024 release of Richards’ second full-length album, New Love Meditation, described by Bandcamp as “a work of haunting indie folk.” Richards’ first solo album, The Language Shadow, was released in 2020. Co-produced by Richards and Basia Bulat and recorded at Montreal’s storied Hotel2Tango, The Language Shadow is one of timeless honesty, providing a spare, at times eerie updating on a classical approach. Richards has been a frequent collaborator with Meg Remy and her ever-evolving art pop project, U.S. Girls, contributing backing vocals for Remy’s live band(s) and for the acclaimed Bless This Mess (2023), Heavy Light (2020), and In a Poem Unlimited (2018), all released under 4AD. Richards served as editor for Meg Remy’s first book, Begin by Telling (Book*hug Press, 2021), and created the score for Pottero, an animated short film directed by Lindsey Martin that has since screened at over thirty-five national and international film festivals.

He has recorded and performed as an accompanist to Thurston Moore, Christina Rosenvinge, Rhys Chatham, Alan Licht, Beth Kaplan, Jennifer O'Connor, Steve Wynn and GG Allin. Currently he plays in Lupa Citta (with Sarah Black and Jenn Gori), the Martha's Vineyard Ferries (with Bob Weston and Elisha Wiesner) and the Chris Brokaw Rock Band (with Clint Conley and Luther Gray).
