Our show builds in intensity and darkens in color. Nerd Hypnotist is laidback, fun and jazz-influenced, leading into the intimate, folk-americana sound of Elia Em. To end the night is Viv St John’s debut show with her band, a combination of alternative rock and folk.
Nerd Hypnotist, a Boston-based bassist trained in jazz, embarked on this project with a singular mission: to create music that speaks from her soul directly to yours. Now, she turns her home into a studio, crafting jazz-fusion melodies that blend seamlessly with hints of soul and R&B. Drawing inspiration from the dreaminess of Imogen Heap and the lyrical warmth of Faye Webster, Nerd Hypnotist weaves a soundscape that’s both timeless and boundary-pushing. Listen to her eclectic instrumentation from upright bass to Omnichord, and join Nerd Hypnotist on her journey where heartfelt storytelling meets the smooth rhythms of jazz and soul.

Originally from Western Massachusetts, Viv St John is a Boston-based artist who thrives in folk, rock, and alternative styles. Her passion for songwriting spans back to when she was only ten years old, and she has developed her unique sound through studying the prose of classic literature, films, and taking inspiration from bands before her time. Her songs often include spiritual, dream-like metaphors, and she never shies away from telling the truth in her raw, poetic lyrics. She wants her audience to feel seen, and she sings as if she is telling her secrets to the crowd.
