Nondualism Trio is a Boston-based progressive jazz trio that blends motivic, harmonic, and rhythmic complexity with deep grooves and fascinating textures. Members include Mark Tipton on trumpet, James Heazlewood Dale on bass, and Paul July Joseph on drums. Formed in 2025, Nondualism Trio recorded their first album at Q Division Studios in Cambridge, MA in February 2026, featuring Mark’s original compositions. This show will feature works from this album and more!

The three members of Nondualism Trio are all rising talents in jazz, and are all active musicians on the Boston scene, seasoned touring musicians, and devoted teachers (Mark at NEC and Walnut Hill, James at Brandeis, and Paul through his private studio). James and Mark have recently toured Turkey, Cypress, and the Northeastern US with Mehmet Ali Sanlıkol and both his jazz quintet and classical Turkish music ensemble, DÜNYA, while Paul and Mark have recently toured New England. They all enjoy connecting with diverse audiences and inspiring young musicians.

He has recently performed and/or recorded with Jerry Bergonzi, Dave Holland, Antonio Sanchez, Eguie Castrillo, Jason Moran, Allan Chase, Edmar Colón, Diego Figueiredo, Joe Hunt, Ayn Inserto, Tom Varner, and Mehmet Sanlikol. His jazz octet released its debut album Vernacular Stretch in December 2025 at Soapbox Gallery in Brooklyn, and his progressive jazz group Nondualism Trio recorded their debut album in February 2026, featuring Mark on trumpet, James Heazlewood Dale on bass, and Paul July Joseph on drums. He has toured the US, Europe, Turkey, and Cypress with numerous ensembles. Mark teaches at the New England Conservatory of Music (NEC) and Walnut Hill School for the Arts, and holds degrees from NEC (DMA - May 2026), Mannes College at New School University (MM), and Oberlin Conservatory of Music (BM).
