An evening of original music featuring two dynamic bassists and composers. The night will present a wide range of modern jazz and cross-genre compositions, highlighting unique voices and collaborative improvisation.
Nico Jin is a bassist, composer, and producer from Seoul, South Korea, currently based in Boston. A scholarship recipient and Dean’s List student at Berklee College of Music, he released his debut album My Willows and has performed internationally across the U.S., Korea, Japan, and Panama.
He has collaborated with artists such as Kendrick Scott, Jacque Swartz Bart, and Sean Temme, and performed at major festivals including the Charles River Festival, Jeonju International Sori Festival, and the Panama Jazz Festival. He has also toured Japan with pianist Kurosaki Masafumi and recorded for artists including Hojoong Yoo, Misha Nicholas, and Andrea Cui.
As both performer and session musician, Nico Jin has appeared at venues such as Wally’s Jazz Café, Dada Bar, and Evans Club, and studied under mentors including Evan Marien, Linda May Han Oh, and Billy Kilson. His work spans jazz, progressive metal, and cross-genre collaborations.
Chris Lee is a composer and bassist from Los Angeles, California. His musical journey began with piano at age 5, later transitioning to bass. As a performer, he has shared the stage with artists such as Terri-Lyne Carrington, Kris Davis, Melissa Aldana, Gretchen Parlato, and Sasha Berliner.
He is also a member of the LA-based rock band Joseon, known in the underground scene and featured at SXSW.
