Welcome to PIECES vol. vi, the sixth installment of EveryDejaVu Record's concert series. With this series, we've been putting together shows blending local talent with our label roster bringing you a diverse grouping of sounds. This one is a mix of rap and alternative R&b with artists from all around the Boston area: MonaVeli, k-the-i???, Dot Dev, and V V N. We'll also have LAVAGXRL as DJ to kick off the night and in-between sets.
MonaVeli
Pronounced “MOHN-uh-VEL-ee,” MonaVeli is a Brockton-based lyricist and visual storyteller blending alternative and experimental hip-hop with R&B. Inspired by Ballroom culture and the bold energy of artists like Doechii and Doja Cat, her sound pairs emotional vulnerability with futuristic style and fearless creativity. From a Billboard-recognized collaboration to a Boston Music Awards “Best New Artist” nomination, MonaVeli has made waves across stages from underground venues to the historic Strand Theatre. With new music and an international tour on the horizon, she’s carving out a lane that empowers underdogs and celebrates authentic self-expression.
Rapper/Producer Kiki Ceac, best known by his stage name K-the-I???, was at the forefront of the mid-00’s experimental hip-hop wave that laid the groundwork for much of the alternative rap music that followed. Originally from Cambridge, Massachusetts, Kiki moved to Los Angeles around the same time that fellow East Coast transplant Kenny Segal was beginning to make noise under the Project Blowed umbrella. Despite moving in the same circles for many years, they had never worked together until Genuine Dexterity- which, ironically enough, came about after Kiki moved back to the East Coast.

Dot Dev
Dot Dev, the Boston-based indie rap project of Devin Bailey, exists in the liminal space between abstract poetry and playful, jazz-kissed beats. Sounding at times like a spring morning filtered through retro cartoons, their music is mellow, yet eccentric. Drawing from the lyrical depth of folk songwriters like The Mountain Goats and the avant-garde flows of MIKE and MF DOOM, Dot Dev’s songs feel both studious and spontaneous, balancing heady themes with an infectious sense of fun.
Born into music (their father was a musician, and they joined their first band at fifteen), Dot Dev thrives at the intersection of rap and internet surrealism. Whether dissecting pop culture or reveling in absurdity, his authenticity reverberates, soothingly bridging the gap between existential introspection and lighthearted escapism.

V V N
V V N, originally from the DMV area and now living in Boston, creates alternative R&B by combining SP-404 sampling with saxophone and airy vocals, inspired by the likes of Liv.e, Alice Coltrane, Dean Blunt, and Pink Siifu.

LAVAGXRL
Hailing from Washington, DC and now based in Boston, Sophia Higgins—aka LAVAGXRL—blends emo, hip-hop, and jazz into a bold, genre-fluid sound. Originally studying neuroscience at Harvard, they found their true path in music, evolving from the experimental project frigid into a fearless solo act rooted in improvisation and self-trust. Mentored by Esperanza Spalding and Vijay Iyer, LAVAGXRL brings glitchy beats, unexpected synths, and raw vocals to life on their debut album Faith in Chaos, earning praise from WBUR, Vanyaland, and more. Their music is a celebration of creative freedom—where chaos becomes beauty.
