The music weaves together intricate and distinctive musical ideas with warm, lyrical melodies and inviting harmonies, creating a sound that is both adventurous and approachable. We anticipate that this blend of contemporary classical music and jazz will offer an engaging and memorable experience for audiences of all backgrounds.
Eriko Yamaki | Composer & Jazz Pianist
Her distinct artistry has been recognized globally, earning finalist honors in prestigious international contests, including the 2018 Nosa ISAM Composition Competition with Mysterious Bell—inspired by Haruki Murakami’s novel Killing Commendatore—and the Kwidzyn Classical Music Competition. Eriko’s music is praised for its exceptional focus; as noted by David Kettle in The Strad Magazine, her piano trio "Multiple Views From a Window" unites the violin, cello, and piano in a dense, lockdown-inspired creation of exemplary focus and intensity. Her creative reach spans from delicate flute solos to rich string orchestra pieces, with performances captivating audiences in cultural hubs such as Tokyo, Kyoto, Boston, New York, Athens, Moldova (Chișinău), and Belarus.
Following pieces recorded by renowned pianist Tamara Licheli for New Music Solo Piano, Eriko’s compositions are scheduled to be featured on her sixth album release this summer. This spring, she marked a major milestone with the highly acclaimed publication of her first score, "Virtual" for oboe and piano, through Austria’s historic Universal Edition. She is currently preparing a succession of upcoming works for consecutive publication with them. Looking ahead to this autumn, Eriko is set to premiere two highly anticipated works: a sonata for oboe and piano in Boston, and a brand-new piece for flute quartet and piano in Tokyo, continuing to expand her vibrant, global musical footprint.
